Sustainability and Responsible Business Policy

This policy explains the environmental, social, and ethical matters considered in activities under our direct control and when selecting suppliers or partners.

Last updated: July 19, 2026Policy document

Purpose and boundaries

This policy explains how environmental and social effects are considered in office use, electronic equipment, purchasing, travel, and partner selection.

We distinguish activities under our direct control from factors relating to suppliers and data centre providers under assessment. The environmental performance of partner-owned facilities is not presented as Hosted Technology’s own performance.

Use of resources and equipment

Practices that may reduce energy, paper, electronic equipment, and travel requirements are assessed alongside operational needs, security, and cost.

  • We aim to extend the useful life of serviceable equipment where security and performance permit.
  • When electronic equipment is disposed of, data deletion and an appropriate recovery method are considered together.
  • Methods that reduce unnecessary travel may be preferred for meetings that can be held remotely.

Assessing data centres and suppliers

When assessing a new supplier, we review service capability, information security, business continuity, and, where relevant, environmental or social information. Decisions are based on verifiable information and contractual obligations.

The energy source, emissions, or certification of a partner’s data centre is considered only to the extent supported by the provider’s current and verifiable statements.

Working environment and social impact

A respectful, non-discriminatory, and safe working environment is a core principle. Recruitment, allocation of responsibilities, and development decisions are based on role-related capabilities and requirements.

Where educational or community initiatives are undertaken, their purpose, scope, resources, and outcomes are defined separately. Public statements are limited to work that has been carried out and documented.

Ethical business conduct

Conflicts of interest, improper benefits, misleading statements, and misuse of confidential information are not accepted. A suspected issue should be reported to the person’s manager or through the relevant company contact channel and will be assessed in a manner appropriate to its nature.

Measurement and public statements

Hosted Technology publishes environmental or social metrics only where they can be measured and their basis can be explained. Figures without a defined scope, method, or verification are not used as performance claims.

Review

This policy is reviewed when there is a material change to the relevant service, process, organisational structure, or applicable law. After any necessary revisions, the current text and revision date are published on this page.
