Which systems can Hosted Shield back up?

Servers, databases, application files and selected business data may be included where supported by the chosen backup technology. System type, data volume, rate of change and access method are reviewed during technical assessment.

Does Hosted Shield prevent all data loss?

No backup design can guarantee zero risk. The objective is to reduce the effect of data loss and service interruption in defined incident scenarios and within agreed tolerances.

How are backup frequency and retention determined?

The rate of data change, business impact of loss, recovery needs, capacity and cost are assessed together. Critical systems and archival data do not need to use the same policy.

Why is recovery testing necessary?

A backup job appearing successful does not prove that an application or data set can be restored without issues. Testing checks whether the copy is readable, the steps are workable and missing dependencies can be identified in advance.

Is disaster recovery automatically included with backup?

No. Backup, restoration, alternative environments, application recovery and business continuity are different scopes. The components included are stated separately in the proposal.

Where are backups stored, and who can access them?

Customer environments or partner-provider options are assessed according to infrastructure, data-location, access and cost requirements. The selected scope defines the location, retention period and authorized roles.

How are we notified when a backup job fails?

Within the selected service scope, job status may be monitored, errors recorded and alerts sent through defined channels. The operations plan states who follows the alert and who owns the initial response.
